Isabella
Bio
Isabella is a rock band formed in 2015 by Paulhan WETBE and Lionel BELINGA after the dissolution of their respective bands. The aim of this project is to popularize rock music and culture in Cameroon and Africa in general, by dispelling the prejudices built around the genre. The name of this band comes from a species of butterfly called "Graellsia Isabellae." The choice of this name highlights the rarity of the species in particular and the band's desire to distinguish themselves, reflecting their extreme versatility. Additionally, this butterfly has 4 spots on each of its wings, representing a member of the band. Moreover, the choice of this name also leans towards the surprise it generates.
Nowadays, the band consists of 4 members after having undergone several line-ups:
- Lionel BELINGA: Lead vocals & Rhythm guitar
- Paulhan WETBE: Lead guitar & backing vocals
- YVAN MENDJANA: Bass & backing vocals
- CHARLES W. N’THEPE: Drums & Percussions
After several performances in cafes, restaurants, bars and festival in Yaoundé, the band recorded on January 16, 2018, their first E.P. (Extended Play) entitled Incipit, which will be well received by fans on June 8, 2018. A 5-track record that tells the saga of the band and will mark the beginning of their true musical tale.
