Bio
Hunde, born Kidus Belete Abebe, is an Ethiopian singer, lyricist, and music researcher known for his powerful storytelling and socially conscious music. Born and raised in Ilu Kebele, Jeju Woreda of the Arsi Zone, Hunde developed a deep connection with the cultural and philosophical fabric of his community—an influence that continues to shape his musical expression.
Hunde holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Jimma University and a Master's Degree in Public Policy Studies from the Ethiopian Civil Service University. His academic background enriches his artistry, enabling him to explore themes of human behavior, social structures, and public life with depth and nuance.
Following his graduation, he served as a community expert at the Babile Elephant Sanctuary from 2008, contributing to community engagement and environmental preservation for nearly three years. His dedication to social change eventually found a new voice through music.
Currently, Hunde is a member of Addis Sound Lab (ASL), where he works as a singer, lyricist, and music researcher. He released his debut album “KEENNAAN KEE” on the Sewasew Multimedia platform, a 13-track body of work that delves into psychological, social, political, and global themes, offering listeners a thoughtful and impactful musical experience.
Hunde’s mission is to create internationally competitive music that bridges traditional Ethiopian sounds with contemporary relevance. His goal is to promote Ethiopia’s rich musical heritage, amplify underrepresented voices, and leave a timeless legacy through conscious and culturally rooted artistry.
