Heyden Gary

Heyden Gary Genner (born January 21, 1991) is a South African guitarist/vocalist, singer-song writer, multi-
instrumentalist, composer & music producer. He was born in Gauteng and raised in Krugersdorp.
After matriculating at the age of 17, Heyden attended Campus of Performing Arts in Kensington,
Johannesburg where he studied contemporary music as well as music production. He was pushed to
second year (contemporary music) in the second semester of his first year. He graduated in 2010.
Heyden studied classical guitar through UNISA during 2007/2008 in which he was awarded gold
certificates for his own classical compositions which he performed at various arts & culture events.
He started his own guitar mentoring business in 2007.

He began playing guitar in early 2001 and started playing in his first band in 2002. In 2006 Heyden &
his brother Kyle began their own band Part-Time Pirates. As a solo musician, Heyden has recorded &
produced several of his own albums and has performed multiple solo shows at various events, restaurants, pubs,
festivals, etc. In 2013 he did a solo performance at the Fire & Ice Protea Hotel in Sandton for Rolling
Stone Magazine SA. In 2011 he played a solo show at a local shopping centre which led to an article in the town's newspaper.

In 2013 Heyden began working at The Jim Records as a freelance producer, sound engineer, composer & session musician. In 2015 he joined the cover band Dagdroom as a guitarist, banjoist, Irish tin whistler, mandolinist & vocalist. In 2017 Heyden began playing at Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom (Johannesburg) as a guitarist/vocalist & troubadour (minstrel). In 2018 he accepted the position of lead guitar in the band Misled. In 2019 Heyden’s band Part-Time Pirates played at Pirate Fest (Johannesburg) along side international bands such as Alestorm & Atreyu.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 Heyden obtained remote work as a freelance music composer & song writer on Fiverr (freelance marketplace) which he's been doing ever since. He continues to play solo gigs at Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom, Coco Palms Sports Bar & other various venues & events.
