Habari Africa

Bio

Taking place annually in Toronto, Canada, the Habari Africa festival features a mix of traditional, fusion and emerging music and dance performed by international and Canadian groups. It is hosted by the Batuki Music Society, a non-profit community-based organization that promotes African music and art in Canada.

Besides a weekend of free live music, the festival includes dance and drumming workshops, crafts and cuisine from various regions on the continent, youth-focused activities, as well as engaging opportunities for an all-ages audience to participate in the arts. The festival aims to bring a true reflection of modern African to Toronto, to find expressions in various genres – music, dance, poetry, cuisine, theatre, storytelling, fashion and more. The 2015 edition of the festival takes place at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre from 14–16 August with a line-up artists from all over Africa.
