Gonaboy
Bio
Abdul-Razak Muniru Gona, known professionally as Gonaboy, is a Ghanaian rapper, singer-songwriter, and rising force in contemporary African hip-hop and trap music. Born on June 10, 1999, in a small village in the Upper West Region of Ghana, he grew up moving between several cities including Kumasi, Berekum, Sunyani, and Techiman — experiences that later shaped his artistic voice and the themes he explores in his music.
Gonaboy’s journey into music began organically; unlike many artists, he didn’t plan a musical career early but discovered his passion through the everyday sounds, struggles, and rhythms of his life. Music became a natural outlet for expressing his experiences, emotions, and reflections on resilience and hustle.
He first gained widespread attention in 2023 with his breakout street hit “Abele,” which resonated deeply with fans across Ghana and helped establish his name in the local scene. Since then, he has built a reputation for blending gritty, introspective lyricism with African rhythms, hip-hop and trap production, and authentic street storytelling.

In 2025, Gonaboy released his emotionally charged EP Muniru — named after his own surname — a reflective project that explores his growth, struggles, identity, and ambitions. The EP showcases his versatility, fusing elements of hip-hop, Afro-soul, dance-hall, and alternative sounds, and has drawn attention beyond Ghana, including being featured on Apple Music’s Rap Life Radio.
