Gillian Ezra

Gillian Ezra is the head of African operations at Deezer in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has worked in different aspects of the music industry such as concert production and artist promotion/management.

Ezra graduated with a Masters in Digital Intellectual Property in 2012, specialising in copyright and technology. In her current role at Deezer, she works across business development, telco relationships, marketing and other aspects of territorial development. In her previous position as COO at Simfy Africa, Ezra focused on licensing and setting up a strong catalogue.

Ezra spent a year in the US for the Eduze project – an EdTech startup funded by the TED organisation. This saw her gaining exposure in digital education and expertise in setting up the project.

Besides her current and previous roles, Ezra is passionate about digital education and often spends time sharing her knowledge with music artists. She also helps artists to build connections, a development that has benefited the arts industry in general.
