Gearhouse

Gearhouse South Africa began as a small, Johannesburg-based lighting company with an equipment inventory of R300 000 in 1991 and has grown into a countrywide Total Technical Solution group, under the strong leadership of Founder and Managing Director, Ofer Lapid. In 1996, Lighting Unlimited, as the company was then known, was acquired by Gearhouse PLC, a UK-based company with operations on five continents. However, by 2001, Gearhouse South Africa had announced the successful management buy-out of the South African division of Gearhouse, which has since continued as a privately-owned entity.

The locally based, proudly South African company quickly achieved dominant market share and finalised its BEE agreement with Red Coral Investments in 2006. Their Board of Directors includes: Nasser Abbas, Nkosinathi Biko, Relebogile Moshidi and Neelofar Khan. The company has a national footprint through regional branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban and an expansive fleet of trucks and vehicles, enabling Gearhouse to reach any point in South and Southern Africa.

In addition, the company regularly provides services across the continent and abroad. Throughout all their companies, branches and divisions, they recognise their staff as their most important asset.
