Gabbana
Bio
Khutso Sheppard Mogano, professionally known as Gabbana (or Gabbana Da Deejay), is an acclaimed South African electronic music DJ, producer, and record label founder renowned for his complex, avant-garde deep house production. Emerging from the competitive South African electronic underground scene, he has built a powerful reputation for creating deeply textured, hypnotic soundscapes that merge the legacy of classic mid-Atlantic house music with a distinctly modern African touch. Rather than chasing mainstream trends, Gabbana has spent years cultivating a trademark style defined by rich synthesized pads, driving basslines, and intricate percussion arrangements.
Gabbana was born and raised in Libangeni, a town situated in the Vaalbank region of the Mpumalanga province, northeast of Pretoria, South Africa. Growing up in a region with deep musical roots, he demonstrated an extraordinary, precocious talent for music production from a very young age. He found early sonic inspiration in legendary local and international record labels that shaped the global deep house landscape, including Soul Candi (South Africa), Freerange Records (United Kingdom), & Defected Records.
Gabbana’s extensive catalog features several celebrated studio albums and EPs, heavily supported on digital platforms like Gabbana on Spotify: Transitions (2018): A seminal early album detailing his progression as an independent underground producer, Eleven (2020): A deeply atmospheric project that solidified his status within South Africa's elite production circles, The Lonely Orchestra Part 1 (2020): A critically praised EP showcasing his talent for moody, cinematic textures, TDHK (2022): An album featuring underground anthems like "Night People," "The Plug," and "I'm Too Deep For You", and Stargazer (2024): A highly acclaimed LP released via platforms like Gabbana on Bandcamp, containing standouts like "Grace," "Celebrate," and "Midnight Tone".
