Formula Band

Formula Band is a Namibian band known for its Shambo type of music that originated with the Owambo in the north of the country. Formed in 2005, the group combines ancestral melodies with contemporary instrumental flavor. The current band consists of Moses Manda on percussion, Tulonga Wahengo on rhythm guitar, Mwayakalola Wahengo on lead guitar, Erwin Gaweseb and Nafidi Wahengo on drums. N’Gatu Nganjone and Castro Ileni are the vocalists.

On September 2007, they performed in Durban and led an interactive workshop in KwaMashu Township where many people joined them. The group also represented Namibia in Durban at the 2007 Awesome Africa Music Festival in October 2007, thanks to sponsorship from the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC).
