Fernando Perdigao

Bio

Fernando Perdigao is an engineer/producer and composer who has been behind key albums and soundtracks for over two decades, gathering various nominations and awards along the way. He was born in 1965 in Cabo Verde. He began his music career as a vocalist and guitarist before spending the 1980s as one of South Africa's most in-demand engineers/programmers and up-and-coming producers, working at both legendary Satbel/Ovation Studios and EMI's Power House Studios with most top South African and International names. Fernando spent time in the late 80s training at Abbey Road Studios under the great Peter R. Vince. His mixing skills earned him the nickname “Hotmix”.

Fernando has an affinity for rock, jazz and world music and specializes in recording these genres. More recently he has worked with jazz star Jimmy Dludlu and the Grammy-winning Soweto Gospel Choir. He is also a sound designer and soundtrack engineer for films. He worked with Cédric Gradus Samson on 'Mandela & De Klerk' and 'Father of our Nation', both of which earned Grammy nominations. He runs BaySide Recording Studio in
Cape Town.
