Espacio Dios

Bio

Espacio Dios made his debut in 2016 with Back Seat Galaxy, an EP that received much acclaim in the Alternative community. A year later a collaboration with Australian DJ & producer Kilter on “Treasure” debuted on the Billboard charts and was added at triple j.

After being named as one of 25 South African Rappers Under 25 Killing the Game by OkayAfrica, collaborations with US-based 2-time Grammy nominated Allan Kingdom, (featured on Kanye West’s All day) followed, as well as Espacio Dios’ 2018 EP Percussive Planet. “Uri Fire” from the EP gained synchs for “Luce” (film) and Netflix series “Queen of the South.” Another collaboration with Muzi on “Good Vibes Only” was featured in Radio Nova’s the best 30 songs of 2019 (France), reached #1 on South African national youth radio 5FM and was placed in multiple advertising synchs on South African national TV; as well as a Fortnite (globally renowned online video game) synch.

March 2020 saw the release of Espacio Dios’ second record, Son of Uri, a 13-track album heavily influenced by diversity of language with Setswana, Swahili and Zulu culture. The record received wide acclaim, and a publishing signing to BMG UK followed. Amid the album’s release, Espacio landed a couple of synchs from prominent brands such as Levi’s, Mr Price and DSTV Africa for commercials, as well as his 2018 hit from the EP, Percussive Planet, “Mangwane”, on the Netflix hit series “Blood & Water” season 3. He then attained synchs for international projects such as the Amazon Prime film, “Don’t make me go” and the Netflix series, “Spinning Out” and many more synchs under his belt.

Now Espacio Dios returns with his highly anticipated Cradle of The Fourth kind project. The four EPs, set for release throughout 2023, describe the different stages of falling in love. From young love to old love, there is a process of negotiating, learning and trust. This journey of love is the core theme of the project. The project not only features local esteemed artists such as Okmalumkoolkat & Maglera Doe Boy, but also features international artists such as Kilter (Australian DJ/Producer), Delux Band (American band), Rochelle (Dutch musician) and Angela Abaya (American singer).

Notoriously private, Espacio Dios has been crafting this conceptual and personal project for the last two years. In reference to the new direction, he says: “I was going for a mellow, more minimalistic feel with this album. This record is not as heavily drum influenced as my previous work. This is my take on what African R&B is, infused with my Motswako influences, traditional and electronic music.”

Throughout the releases of his sequel EPs from 2023 leading up to the album’s release, Espacio Dios gained attention from a variety of magazines such as Native Selects, Between 10 and 5, Hype Magazine, Lé Africanique, News 24 – City Press and many more. He then took the stage at the Spotify sponsored event, “After school is after school with Sis Gu” – a podcast hosted by youtuber Gugu Nyatsumba, Spotify event “Greasy Tunes Popup” and the Brunch concert hosted by Good Morning....
