Empress Tigris

Empress Tigris is a hip-hop artist from Malawi. She was born on 14 May in Ntcheu district in a family of ten children. Her real name is Angela Mizinga. Her music is a fusion of hip-hop and traditional elements.

Tigris' career as a musician began in August 2009 following the release of her maiden album called ‘Gimme Me a Break’. Her debut music project did well on VOA, BBC and local radio stations. She shot to fame in June 2011 through her performance at the Big Brother Amplified Eviction show held on 12 of that month. Her three minute recital marked the beginning of her popularity.

Some of her songs include 'My Time', 'Going Away', 'Ten Tymz a Fool', 'Hallo Good Bye', 'Watagwan' and many more.

She has toured the country and hosted local concerts with musicians like Theo Thomson, Tay Grin and Young Kay. She has also performed alongside Sean Kingston, Brick and Lace.
