El Morabba3

Bio

El Morabba3 (Arabic: المربّع, meaning "The Square") is a prominent Jordanian alternative rock band formed in Amman in 2009. Known for their "post-rock" energy and socially conscious lyrics, they are considered one of the most influential groups in the independent Arabic music scene.

Band Evolution:

The band has undergone significant transformations in both lineup and location:

  • Early Years (Amman): Originally formed by Muhammad Abdullah (vocals, bass), Odai Shawagfeh (guitar, keys), and Dirar Shawagfeh (drums).
  • Berlin Era: The band eventually moved to Berlin. As of recent years, founding member Mohammad Abdallah has collaborated with producer Basel Naouri, shifting the band's sound from raw indie rock toward more experimental electronic landscapes.

  • El Morabba3 (2012): Their self-titled debut album featured hits like "Asheek," "Ma Indak Khabar," and "Cigara Qabel Ma Nqoom".
  • Taraf Al Khait (2016): Their second studio album, which further solidified their status in the Arab indie scene.
