Dr Clarence

Born and raised in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe, Dr Clarence is one of the country’s top music producers to emerge out of Zimbabwe. He attended primary school at Pfumo and his secondary at Zengeza High school. He is a Class 1 engineering journeyman for Delta Technical Institute. He also holds a degree in Visual Arts from The School of Animation. He graduated in 2008.

In 2005, he was a Dancehall chanter at X5 Studio where he worked with Dadza D. He later joined Nitredy Studio where he worked as a video and audio producer. His career as a producer began in 2008 when he began working as a producer at Nitredy Studios together with Rockford Josphats, Junior Brown and Russo.

He later joined estate blues working as a Director of Photography and Editor. He worked with artists such as Madiz on his Debut DVD Album, Stunner’s songs such as ‘Dhafu Korera’, ‘Handisi Bharanzi’, ‘Kalife’ and many others. He has also worked with Pastor Gee, King Labash most hits including ‘Mukomana nemusikana’ remix which became a hit in 2009. This saw Dr Clarence launching his freelance career and began working with Dadza D, Guspy Warrior, Tobbie, Gaanwid, Quonfused, Exq and many others.

Since 2008, Dr Clarence produced videos that have been nominated in the Zimbabwe television top 5 for 5 consecutive years and none of them ever got the number 1 award due to criminal subotage and corruption.

He does music production on different genres such as Afro-pop, hip-hop, jazz, RnB, rap, reggae, dancehall, house, rave, rock, religious and many more. He also plays the piano, saxophone, aquistic and bass guitar. He has released 10 solo albums under his label Dr Clarence exclusive. He has also produced DVDs both video and audios for Madiz, Pastor G, EXQ, Lady B, King Shaddy, Lady Squanda and others.

He has produced for international artists such as Beres Hamond, Gyptian, Red Rat and DJ Cleo.
