Dobble
Bio
Dobble was a Ghanaian hiplife and highlife duo based in Accra, composed of Paa Kwasi (Nana Kwasi Aryeh) and Nana Yaw (Gideon Edu Gyamfi). The group became widely known for blending street lyricism with melodic highlife influences, positioning them among Ghana’s most popular music duos of the 2010s.
Dobble released several hit records and performed on major stages across Ghana. Some of their most recognised songs include “Walai Talai,” “Otan Hunu,” “Ee Mana,” “Gud Mood,” “Spark Ma Moto,” “Deepest Side” featuring Shatta Wale, and “Wat Can Come Can Come” featuring Bisa Kdei. Their breakout single “Walai Talai,” released under Phibi Records, became an instant hit and established them as one of the country’s leading music duos.
At the height of their success, internal changes began to surface. One member, Nana Yaw, stopped attending group events and privately indicated plans to pursue a solo career. Although the duo gradually stopped performing together, their popularity continued, and they went on to win Most Popular Song of the Year with their hit single “Christy” at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (now the Telecel Ghana Music Awards).
Throughout their career, Dobble received nominations and awards for their contributions to Ghanaian music, including nominations at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and a major win for “Christy.” Their music videos, directed by notable Ghanaian filmmakers, further strengthened their visual presence in the industry.
Dobble’s legacy lies in their ability to merge contemporary hiplife with traditional highlife sensibilities, producing songs that resonated with both street culture and mainstream audiences. Even after their separation, the duo remains remembered for shaping a distinctive era in Ghana’s popular music landscape
