Bio

DJ YLB is a Tanzanian DJ, record producer and bongo flavor artiste. He was born Genes Paul on 4th February, 1996 in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania and grew up in the city of Mount Kilimanjaro, Moshi, Tanzania. The arguably one of the biggest DJs in Tanzania is based in Dar es salaam.

CAREER

The reserved and talented Genes grew up surrounded by music, particularly influenced by his childhood passion. As a kid he involved himself in a number of school dance activations as well as organizing school bashes and parties. Growing up, Genes was so brave taking opportunities some seem beyond his abilities with limited resources. His first practices of being a DJ, Genes used mobile phone to learn and play with music. Later on, after having saved money he managed to buy laptop PC, thus the beginning of professional DJ.

Early 2017, DJ YLB started working with famous night clubs like High Spirit, Elements, Samaki Samaki and House Club Masaki Dar es salaam.

Nevertheless, Genes has performed as a guest DJ in major music festivals, Marathons and artiste shows. To mention a few, in 2018 Genes performed in WASAFI Festival which run through out the country (Tanzania), Vocal Festivals, Nyama Choma Festival and Serengeti Festival. 2022’s Mbeya Marathon and Kilimanjaro Marathon. And for the music shows, Genes worked with big names artists like Diamond Platnumz, WEUSI, Lulu Diva, Mario, Fid Q, Jux and artists from a leading record label WCB.

Along the shows and performances, DJ YLB has been part of live sessions and trending TV and Radio programs from different media houses in East Africa. Late 2018 Genes joined WASAFI MEDIA GROUP as Assistant Head of music department and official DJ of THE SWITCH, BIG SUNDAY LIVE and SUNDAY WORSHIP. And from neighboring countries, he joined Life and Style KTN’s live mix, Teen Republic from NTV Kenya and JBS TV’s Friday entertainment.

Other than being a DJ, In 2022, Genes has released his own music projects featuring artist from Africa. Few of them include the trending record with Chino Kid and Ril Vin, SIJAPENDA and Fire featuring Bongo fleva recording artist, Platform. To be released he has featured Mabantu, Exray Taniua from Kenya.
