Dimba Dya Ngola (also known as Conjunto Dimba Diangola) was an influential Angolan musical ensemble prominent from the late 1960s through the 1980s. The group is celebrated for its contribution to the Semba and Merengue genres, often blending traditional Angolan rhythms with Latin and psychedelic influences. 

Musical Legacy and Key Works:

The group’s music captured the cultural and political atmosphere of Luanda, particularly during the period surrounding Angola's independence. Their discography includes several notable releases: 

  • "Luanda Cidade Linda" (1984): One of their most recognized albums, featuring hits like the title track, "Mona O Musasa," and "Semba Carnaval".
  • Early Singles (Late 1960s/70s): They released several 45 RPM vinyl singles, including "Tira Sapato / Fuma" (1968) and "Cangila / Emenguio".
  • Compilation Features: Their track "Mona O Musasa" gained modern international recognition through the Angola Soundtrack 2 compilation (2013), which highlighted rare psychedelic sounds from the 1970s.
