Danpapa GTA (born Akinlemibola Daniel Omotoyosi) is a Nigerian recording artist emerging from Lagos’ vibrant underground music scene. Known for his fusion of Afrobeats, street-hop and melodic rap, he is part of a new wave of independent artists reshaping the country’s sonic landscape from the ground up.
His stage name reflects both personal history and artistic identity: “Dan” is derived from his given name Daniel, “Papa” stems from a childhood nickname, and “GTA” stands for “Genuine Type of Artist” a phrase that underscores his commitment to authenticity.
Raised in Lagos, Danpapa GTA’s music is informed by the realities of urban life, drawing on themes of ambition, survival and self-expression. His sound captures the energy and complexity of the city, blending introspective lyricism with melody-driven production that resonates with a growing audience seeking honest, relatable narratives.
