Bio

Conny Chauke is a South African singer and a prominent figure in the Xitsonga music tradition. She is widely recognized for her vocal talent and contributions to the cultural preservation and evolution of Tsonga-language music. Born into a family with strong musical roots, she is the daughter of Dr Thomas Chauke, also known as “Shinyori,” a legendary Xitsonga musician whose influence shaped the development of contemporary Tsonga music. Growing up in such an environment, Conny Chauke was immersed in music from an early age, which helped her cultivate her own artistic identity.

Her recorded career spans several decades, beginning with early albums such as Buldoza (1992) and U Ta Humelela (1994). Over the years, she has released a number of albums, including Magevenga and Buldozer, No. 7 (2009), showcasing her versatility in blending traditional Xitsonga rhythms with modern musical influences. Through her music, Conny has been able to maintain a strong connection with audiences while contributing to the continuity and popularization of Xitsonga musical culture.
