Evangelist Amaka Okwuoha popularly known as Chioma Jesus is a female Nigerian gospel artiste and one of the most popular indigenous gospel songwriter from the eastern part of Nigeria.
Chioma Jesus was born in Abia State, Nigeria, on 12th February 1972. She is the daughter of the late Nze Euzebius Chukwumaeze Ebizie, her father, and Lolo Dorothy Ebizie, her mother. After birth, she was named, Amaka. She was born the eldest in a family of seven which was poor. When her parents died, she was left in charge of her younger siblings in poverty. She used to work in the food industry so as to provide for her family before rising to fame in the music industry.
She came to limelight through her first song in 2003 titled “Chioma Jesus” Ever since then, her name has been a household name and it has continued to ring a bell in the gospel music world.
Chioma is an educated woman. She went to Lake Mary High School and did her high school level. She later enrolled at Jesus College and pursued an unknown career. After her studies, she went to a music career, which is her main career
Chioma Jesus is a married woman. She is married to Evangelist Callistus Okwuoha. Together they have been blessed with three children. Among the tree, she has revealed the name of one child, namely; Miracle Chioma Okwuoha. She states she named her Miracle since she was a miracle child who came after a long period waiting for a child. She lives a happy life together with her family.
Chioma Jesus is best known for using Igbo language to write and sing her songs, occasionally seasoned with English but surprisingly, her first ever song was written in Yoruba language.
However, her desires and passion is to use her song to win more souls for Christ and to see gospel artistes becoming what God has called them to be.
Professional career
Chioma Jesus began singing in her native church choir when she was nine years old. She had a supportive and inspiring pastor who urged her to develop her gift and helped her make her way into the music industry. She also continued her career in singing at the Scripture Union Fellowship as the chorus leader and soloist. She used to give special numbers in various church programmes and crusades, which were heart-touching and soul-inspiring.
She rose to the limelight after being invited as a guest artist at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, River State, located in Nigeria. Many lives were touched by her ministration in great folds. She did her first song, ‘Chioma Jesus’, which made her become popular. She was 31 years by then and a trader. Her songs play a big role in the gospel music world.
Before her fame, She has ministered on the stages of several churches in and out of Nigeria and she has a good rapport with the biggest gospel artiste in Nigeria.
