Cebo Ngema

Cebo Ngema is a Kwamashu bred award winning guitarist, Composer, Song writer and Poet. Cebo is also a lead guitarist of Sarafina, a Broadway Hit Musical. He was introduced into playing guitar by his late father who also played the same instrument. His father taught him to play genres like Maskandi, Mbhaqanga & African Jazz but after completing his Matric Cebo enrolled to study a diploma in jazz and popular music at the University of KwaZulu Natal. This exposure to varied styles of music can be enjoyed in his recently released album, entitled ULIBO LOKUQALA FIRST FRUIT , as it boasts a myriad of feels. This deputy album has won him a Best Jazz Guitarist Award at the Mzansi Musical Instrumentalist Awards 2022.

He has found his satisfying to share his music knowledge with aspiring musicians as he teaches guitar at UKUSA outreach program. He also taught jazz guitar at the Bat Centre and on top of that he continues to offer private lessons at all levels ( i.e. beginners, intermediate and advanced). Through his company, MCZN ENTERTAINMENT, Cebo also curates his own concert and has thus far hosted a hugely successful music night called, Cebo Ngema Chapter one.

He has worked and shared stage with many internationally acclaimed musicians including: Dr Mbongeni Ngema, Umkhumbane jazz Ensemble, Afro soul, Xolisa Dlamini, Joel Zuma, Bheki Nqoko, Clermont Choir , Zululand Gospel Choir, in Blood Musical a theatre production for people living with disabilities.

Cebo Ngema is currently busy promoting his recently released music album called ULIBO LOKUQALA FIRST FRUIT at different events and venues. Among those events we can mention: Moun international Art Festival in Botswana, Nanjing in China, Ugu jazz festival, Durban jazz festival in Hezelmere Dam, Be the Band Competition and many others.
