Can of Worms SA

Can of Worms SA is a collection of musicians who write and perform original music. The inspiration for our compositions comes from a wide range of cultural and musical backgrounds as each member of the band is different; our ages range from 26 to 50+, our members are South African, Zimbabwean and English, our musical training and experience collectively is vast. Our music crosses genre boundaries and is difficult to "fit in a genre box" - which we love. It has tastes of Afro-pop, soul, funk, dub and traditional tribal. We often decide that the best genre to describe it is World Music. Our music creation process is collaborative so each song is different. Some of our members play several instruments which makes for varied and interesting live performances.

Career Highlights:
- Performed at the National Arts Festival 2021 (Fringe Live Stream) where we were awarded a Standard Bank Ovation Award for our show Out of the Can
- Independently published two singles and music videos: Titambe (2020) and Funk It (2021)
- Single Titambe was selected for the AfriMusic Song Contest 2020, getting through to the National Selection stages
