Cairo CPT

Cairo CPT is a South African music producer and DJ from Cape Town whose work becomes closely associated with the fusion of gqom, gospel influences and bass-driven electronic music. He is born Jason Gxotiwe and grows up in a home where music plays a central role. During his school years he participates in youth choirs, gumboots dance and talent competitions. These early experiences deepen his interest in rhythm, harmony and performance.

He begins his creative journey through hip hop, experimenting with rapping and beat-making before transitioning into gqom production. As he develops his sound, he introduces gospel melodies, warm chords and choral textures into the hard, percussive structure of gqom.
