Bio

Based in Rhode Island, U.S., Brown University Library is one of the well-known libraries in the world with music resources from Africa and the African diaspora. It has a collection of archives housed at the Orwig Music Library. It also houses the James T. Koetting Ethnomusicology Archive which contains published and unpublished world music.

The Library has catalogued its holdings of recorded African music in the Josiah database. Online visitors can find these recordings by doing a search for "Africa sound recordings" or by searching "sound recordings" followed by the name of a particular country or ethnic group.

It is open to the public daily at 08h30am until 22h00pm.
