Bolepu Mathabatha
Bio
Bolepu Mathabatha is a South African multi-instrumentalist, poet and creative designer based in Saulsville, Pretoria. He studied music at VMMD at the State Theatre and Mamelodi High Unisa Music Foundation.
Bolepu Mathabatha is a co-founder of the band Forefathers Ensemble which has seen him playing around South Africa at festivals and live music events like Afrikaburn Smoking Dragon, U-space, Botaki ba Afrika , Sawubona Music Jam and many more. He has also collaborated and performed with others like Indlovukazi, BagaNtu, Azah, E.A.R.T.H
His primary instruments are Kora and flute, while the secondary ones are didgeridoo, mbira, adungu and other indigenous instruments. Bolepu draw his inspiration from artists like Mulatu Astatke ,Philip Tabane,Ba Cissoko, Medu and many more
