Blood Brothers

Blood Brothers is Uganda’s oldest and only Reggae Band founded in 1993.The name Blood Brothers was conceived when four young and ambitious amateur musicians met in Kibuli. Data ’Bass’ Marshal (Bass), RasB Ssali (Rythm Guitar,Vocals), Iboman Solomon (Vocals)and Joseph ‘Adamski’ Mutumba (Keyboards).

A few months later the Blood Brothers (four musicians without a drummer) arrived at Nsambya Sharing Youth Centre to merge with Bwewusa William on vocals, Grace ‘Weedyman’ Ddumba first as the drummer then later doing guitars and Vocals. One year or so later Alex Guma, sibling to Data Bass’ Marshal, came to the Youth Centre and later became the drummer.

Blood Brothers band was later re-established in 2001 with only one of the four founders Data ‘Bass’ Marshal and Drummer Guma Alex, going through a couple of Keyboard players from Ssimbwa Robert (now in USA), to Jude ‘Microsoft’ Mugerwa and a three man horns section ”The Opipinos” comprising Kadala Henry (Alto Sax), Kayizi Yusuf (Trombone) and Kasibante Godfrey (Trumpet).

In 2006 Blood Brothers created the Battle of the Bands, a weekly event that bought various artists at the Kampala Rugby Club. Since 2008 the Blood Brothers organize and play once a month their own concert called Rub a Dub 12.
