Bio
Black Heidi is a South African alternative artist redefining the edges of indie rock, pop-grunge and soft punk. Fronted by Dimpho Mahoko, the project moves between intimate vulnerability and raw, guitar-driven intensity - creating music that feels both deeply personal and globally resonant. Emerging from Mafikeng and now based in Pretoria, Black Heidi has grown from a DIY solo act into a versatile live offering, performing both stripped-back and as a full band. Since 2020, she has built a reputation as a compelling live performer with a sound that refuses categorisation.
Known for both intimate and high-energy live performances, she represents a new wave of African artists ready for global stages..
