Bantu Social, hailing from the vibrant streets of Gauteng, Soweto, is a force to be reckoned with in the realm of live performance. Born around 2016 under the visionary leadership of drummer and all-around creative, Molefi ‘Levos’ Phuroe, this ensemble is bound to be a testament to the pulsating heartbeat of South African music.
While their roots lie in jazz, Bantu Social transcends the confines of genre, seamlessly blending jazz, neo-soul, hip hop, broken beats, and lounge influences into a sonic mosaic that is as unpredictable as it is entrancing.
Collaborating with a tapestry of musical maestros including the likes of Nongoma Ndlovu, Khethi Ntshangase, Ntate Themba Mokoena, and uBab’ Khaya Mahlangu, Bantu Social has evolved into a collective whose sound reflects the rich tapestry of their experiences.
Their eclectic nature has seen them grace stages far and wide, from the dusty landscapes of the Back to the Bush and Jazz On The Lawn Festivals in the Free State Province to the pulsating streets of Soweto for International Jazz Day, the creative hub of Cape Town's Design Indaba, and the soul-stirring Festival Operation Phenduka in Namibia.
Currently, Bantu Social is in the midst of crafting new sonic landscapes, preparing to unleash their debut EP onto the world stage. Featuring stirring poetry by the enigmatic Q – The Soul Cleanser, this release promises to be a journey through the depths of emotion and the heights of musical expression.

This ensemble is fronted by Pamela Hlabangwana with her sultry yet powerful vocal prowes, harmonious and melodic touch of Thabo Morajane on piano, the steadily blow your mind out stylings of Sibusiso Chiloane on bass and the abstract groove cuts by Molefi 'Levos' Phuroe on the drums.
