Ayanda Sibisi
Bio
Ayanda Sibisi is a refined actress, presenter, musician and TV/film producer born and raised in KwaNdengezi, Durban. She obtained her National Diploma in Drama Studies at the Durban University of Technology. In 2022 she received a nomination for best music video at the 15th Crown Gospel Awards for her hit gospel Amapiano song called “Bayede” which is currently on high rotation on several radio stations across the country. There is no stopping this formidable talent and her time is NOW!!!
As a Theatre practitioner she has worked on various high profile musicals, starting in 2011 where she joined the cast of Cinderella at the Playhouse Theatre. She also starred in the stage musical piece Beauty and the Beast playing Madame De La Grande Bouche where she received formal vocal training to prepare for the role, which went on to get her a nomination for the best newcomer at the Mercury Durban Theatre Awards. She played the king’s most trusted adviser Rafiki in the internationally acclaimed Lion King at the Theatre of the Wild in Disneyland, Hong Kong. In 2018 she took on the role of Jarene the church lady in Alice Walker’s musical version of The Colour Purple which received 13 nominations and won 7 of those awards at the Naledi awards in 2019.
She also starred in several tv roles namely Top Actor, Hawema! with the Magic in Motion Academy and the controversial drama series The Herd as MaMzobe the cynical witch, The Queen, 7 de Laan, Rockville and on SABC1’s 13 Weeks to find Mr Right. She recently just finished in the highly acclaimed, Naledi Award nominated in five categories The Cry of Winnie Mandela which had a successful run at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town and a second round at The Market Theatre as the vivacious Delisiwe. Ayanda Sibisi is an accomplished recording artist with an album titled “Ode to God” which features a massive storm of hits.
