About the #BlkGrlzRize Movement
Founded in 2018, #BlkGrlzRize is a Pan-African feminist and multimedia storytelling movement inspired by the revolutionary spirit of Mama Nomzamo Winifred Madikizela-Mandela. It exists as a digital sanctuary and a radical call to action for Black womxn across Africa and the diaspora—those who are resisting erasure, reclaiming their power, and writing themselves back into history.
The movement is anchored in a mission to infiltrate digital libraries with victory-based content that centers African womxn as pioneers, leaders, creatives, and innovators. Using film, performance, multimedia, and archival curation, #BlkGrlzRize addresses the glaring gap in historical narratives about African womxn beyond domestic roles—creating digital reference points for future generations of African leaders in search of identity, belonging, and pride.
“The revolution of womxn WILL be etched into history! We will NOT be erased!”
