Tinashetenn/Carter
Bio
Born in Zimbabwe in 2000, Tinashe Tenn/Carter’s journey began with a simple love for music. He found his rhythm in the soulful sounds of artists like Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne, while also drawing deep inspiration from the legends of his home country, Roqcui and the late Oliver Mtukudzi. This diverse foundation created a unique artistic voice that soon followed him to his new home in Cape Town.
His love for the art form blossomed, leading him to start writing and performing for friends at just 14. Even in his high school years, he was already making waves, releasing tracks like “One Day” featuring Scott 47 from Zambia and the melodic love song “Take Your Time Babe” featuring Yamkela, recorded in Cape Town in 2019. His early success was a sign of things to come; a single titled “Do I Love You” went on to become a standout hit, holding the number one spot on ReverbNation for six weeks in the Cape Town region, all before it was even mastered. He also credits dancehall artist Alkaline for his powerful lyrical influence.
But like any great story, his had a powerful twist. After a brief hiatus, Tinashe chose a new path, dedicating himself to his studies and exploring the worlds of modeling, acting, and screenwriting. It was during this time that he found a profound lesson in the words of his current favorite artist, A$AP Rocky—that hard work and dedication make anything possible. With his degree in hand in August 2024, he came back with a fresh start, a renewed passion, and a new set of skills. His story is a testament to the belief that with God’s help and a relentless spirit, dreams can be achieved.
Look out for his highly anticipated debut album, coming on February 25, 2026! Tinashe is a multifaceted artist—a hip-hop visionary, an actor, and a writer. Follow his journey on all social platforms as he proves that a well-earned comeback is just the beginning.
