Jama Musse Jama

Dr. Jama Musse Jama (born in 1967) is a music professional and art activists from Somaliland notable also for his research on traditional Somali board games such as Shax. Dr. Jama has a PhD in African Studies specialising in Computational Linguistics from Oriental University of Naples (Italy). Author of several books in Italian, English and Somali, his latest work "Cittadinanza e' participazione" focuses on the importance of active citizenship by participation.

Jama attended in the past Somali National and Pisa universities in Italy where he studied mathematics. He is passionately involved in the affairs of the Somali diaspora during festivals and conferences where he is a key contributor. His main interest is to promote Somali language, literature and reading. He is the founder and the organiser of Hargeysa International Book Fair.
