Erick Odiweric
Bio
Erick Odiweric (b 1996) is a Kenyan composer, based in Rongo and Nairobi. His music being illustrative, invokes natural imagery and an intention to write good music that paints beauty, freedom, justice and simplicity. Despite holding a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Technical University of Mombasa, the scientist has not secured any job in his field of learning for a very long time and therefore shifted to pursue his hobby, music. He has completed a short certificate course in music from the International Youth Fellowship in Kenya (Weekend Academy) and is pursuing a music Diploma at Alison Courses, an online platform. Erick also directed the TUMSDA Choir-Mombasa while at the Technical University of Mombasa in Mombasa and later sung in the Premier Academy of Music Chorale at the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi The composer has written short pieces for the Castle of Our Skins Concert Series BCMC 3.0 and BCMC 4.0. Odiweric has also participated in the JACK Studio Reading 2023; in which he presented a short work for string quartet. The composer has composed various pieces for various instruments and enjoys being a member of The Collegiate Choral Composition Community. His short flute and classical guitar piece has been selected for Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame featuring Linda Chatterton and YunZhe Lin in July Erick's work ''Vumilia Safarini'' has been selected to be published by the TUX People's Music. He's currently collaborating with classical guitarist Maja Radovanlija on his classical guitar solo work ''Firesticks'' Odiweric is currently participating in the Summer Mentorship Program, being mentored by maestro composer Soheil Shirangi, writing a piano solo work in the process. The composer's SATB a capella choral work ''Gladly Sing'' will also be performed by the Garden State singers in their new works concert.
