KAECY
Bio
KAECY is a singer, songwriter, performer, and recording artist from South Africa. KAECY started singing in public at the age of 10 years. He then joined his church choir at the Mamelodi Baptist Church, of which he is still a member to this day. In September 2007, while at university, he was appointed choir conductor of Rhodes University’s Voice of Glory Choir where his gift for songwriting and vocal arrangement was honed. Under his leadership the choir performed in places like the Great Hall at Wits University and most notably at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown (now Makhanda) in 2007 and 2008.
In 2009, KAECY moved back to Pretoria, where he continued on his musical journey and worked as a background vocalist for several distinguished artists such as Hassan Green (US), Bongi & Collin (SAMA and Crown Gospel Award winners), and Letang Tlome among many others, both in the studio as a session artist as well as on stage for performances.
In 2014, KAECY ventured out as a solo artist with his first ever concert titled #SO_BEAUTIFUL, held on the 11th of October 2014 in Pretoria, where he received resounding praise for his music, delivery, and all-round finessed command on stage, this concert delivered way more than anticipated. What was meant to be a testing ground for someone who had never shared his music with a live audience before, KAECY’s #SO_BEAUTIFUL concert went on to distinguish him as a remarkable singer, songwriter, and entertainer in his own right.
After years of planning and preparation, KAECY, released his debut album, “So Beautiful”, aptly titled after the concert that launched his solo career while also describing the sheer feel of songs the album boasts. The album was released on the 06th of October 2017 and launched on the 13th of October 2017 and is available on iTunes, Apple Music, Google Music, and all other leading digital platforms. KAECY’s style of music can be described as smooth boasting impressive lyrical content. While his roots are gospel music, KAECY is not restricted to any specific genre, boasting a versatility many desire.
Kaecy has also been featured on Afro Café (a live music television show) on their #NewComersOnAfroCafe special, as well as on Gospel Classics (inspirational music television show), and #NewBreed special which both aired on SABC 2. Over the years Kaecy has also performed at various notable venues across the country, including the South African State Theatre, The Johannesburg Theatre, and the 2022 National Arts Festival in Makhanda.
