Sabel Dieng
Bio
Sabel Dieng was born in Ben Tally (Dakar), she is the daughter of Ndiouga Dieng, the late singer of the Orchestra Baobab of Senegal.
As a teenager, her dream was to become a sales representative. After obtaining her high-school certificate, she moved to Morocco, to pursue her studies in Casablanca.
During in studies, she started taking guitar lessons and became involved with a group of Senegalese dancers. She later became the band’s lead vocalist.
Back in Senegal in 2016, she joined the staff of her brother, the musician Pama Dieng, as a marketing assistant, while working as an administration executive in a Senegalese company.
During this time, she started attending her brother’s band rehearsals and gradually begins to provide backing vocals. Eventually, she fully joined the band as a backup singer.
On November 10, 2017, on the anniversary of their father's death, she released a tribute video, featuring a cover of the masterpiece "Dee mo Woor". The cover was well received by critics.
In 2018, Sabel recorded 3 songs featuring Sirifo Kouyaté on her international album Silakadian, including the tracks "Sili Kandian" "Mama" and "Diali".
For International Women's Rights Day, the same year, she released another video "Mama don't cry", as a tribute to all women in the world, especially her mother.
