Al-Azif
Bio
Formed in 2009 by Mohammed "Mafia" Sherif, Al-Azif is a prominent melodic death metal band based in Cairo, Egypt. Deeply rooted in the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft, the band takes its name from the original title of the Necronomicon, weaving the Cthulhu Mythos and ancient mysteries into their atmospheric sound.
Since their inception, they have become a staple of the Egyptian metal scene, notably performing at key local events such as "Walls of Death". Their debut album, Claiming the Sand Throne, showcases their signature blend of heavy riffs and dark, thematic storytelling. With standout tracks like "The Great Old Ones" and "Oxygen," Al-Azif continues to define the landscape of North African extreme music.
