Wendy Cathalina is a Malagasy singer and songwriter from Madagascar who has emerged as one of the country’s promising young music talents. Born Wendy Cathalina Rakotomalala, she began gaining attention as a teenager and rose to popularity around 2017 with the release of her song “Za hiala.” Her early success, along with collaborations with other local artists, helped her build a strong following among young listeners.
Her musical style blends Malagasy pop with Afrobeat and tropical influences, creating melodic songs that often explore themes of love, relationships, and youthful resilience. Some of her well-known tracks include “Efa Janga,” “Miangotro,” and “Tsy Affairenao,” which have contributed to her growing recognition in the Malagasy music scene.
In 2024, she signed with Big Sound Studio, aiming to expand her career both nationally and internationally. She also released an English-language single titled “Vanishing Moon,” marking a step toward reaching a wider audience.
