Alostro, whose real name is Mohau Louis, is a South African social media personality and rapper known for his candid content and public battle with nyaope drug addiction. He is known for his unique, humorous, and incoherent, yet entertaining, way of speaking during interviews while living on the streets of Pretoria. 

Rise to Fame (Covid-19 Era)

• The Viral Moment: Alostro became famous after a video of him talking to journalists about life in a lockdown shelter went viral. His, at times, incomprehensible, high-speed, and uniquely phrased English made him an instant internet sensation.
• The Nickname: "Alostro" is derived from a word he used in that viral interview, which has since become synonymous with his persona.
• Context: At the time of his viral fame, he was homeless and battling a severe addiction to nyaope (a local drug cocktail). 

Recovery Journey and Rehab

• Intervention: Following his fame, DJ Karri, a prominent South African DJ, took it upon himself to help Alostro. He assisted in removing him from the streets and placing him in a rehabilitation center in Seshego, Polokwane.
