Ebony Reigns
Bio
Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, better known as Ebony Reigns, was a force of nature in Ghanaian music. Born on 16 February 1997 in Dansoman, Accra, she grew up with a bold spirit that would later define her stage presence. From singing in local circles to dropping chart-topping hits, Ebony quickly became known for her fearless style and hits like “Poison” and “Kupe.” She made history as the first female artist in Ghana to win Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards, proving that talent and charisma could break barriers.
Ebony’s rise was meteoric. Discovered by Bullet of RuffTown Records, she released her debut single “Dancefloor” in 2015, followed by hits that dominated radio and charts. Beyond the music, she wasn’t afraid to tackle important issues. Her song “Maame Hw3” addressed domestic violence, showing that her voice could be both fun and powerful, entertaining and meaningful.
Tragically, Ebony’s life was cut short on 8 February 2018 in a car accident, just days before her 21st birthday. Her death shook Ghana, but her impact remains. Fans, fellow musicians, and her family continue to celebrate her legacy through memorials, music, and annual tributes. Ebony Reigns wasn’t just a singer—she was a cultural trailblazer, a fearless performer, and a symbol of empowerment whose influence is still felt across the Ghanaian music scene
