Bio

Jelly Babie was born Karabo Khakhu on 27 January 2006 in Mabopane in Tshwane. She is a Bacardi musician and dancer who rose to prominence as a teenager. She first gained public attention through her association with Vusi Ma R5, whose influence helped introduce her to the Bacardi scene. After his death in January 2023, Jelly Babie’s profile grew rapidly as she began developing her own musical identity.

Her breakthrough single "Thaba (Ke Chenchitse)" earned her national recognition and opened doors for collaborations with established artists including DJ Maphorisa, Uncle Waffles and Pabi Cooper. Jelly Babie is known for her high energy performances and a confident stage presence that has made her a popular figure in the Bacardi movement.

Her personal life attracted wide attention when she left school in Grade 11 after experiencing harassment and bullying. She has expressed interest in completing her education through homeschooling while continuing her music career.

In 2025 she launched a beauty salon called For The Babies Beauty Salon. Around the same time she publicly acknowledged her ancestral calling and began training as a traditional healer. She has stated that music remains her central passion and she intends to pursue both paths with equal commitment.

Jelly Babie continues to build a multifaceted career that spans music, entrepreneurship and cultural practice. Her journey reflects resilience, growth and a determination to define her own place in South African youth culture.
