Bio
Born Loyiso Gijana on 8 March 1999 in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, South Africa, Lloyiso emerges as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary South African music. Lloyiso began nurturing his musical interests, performing at community events and local competitions at the age of 12. In 2015, he gained national recognition after participating at the 11th edition of Idols SA, where his vocal range and stage presence earned him a spotlight.
This saw him signing with Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2018. Under the label he released singles including ‘Nontsikelelo’ and ‘Intliziyo’ featuring Langa Mavuso. His sound blends soulful vocals with piano-driven melodies, establishing him as a rising talent in the Afro-pop and R&B genres. In 202, he joined Universal Music South Africa in partnership with Republic Records, marking his entry into the international music scene.
Lloyiso’s songwriting focuses on emotion, vulnerability and self-expression. His lyrics often explore love, heartbreak and personal growth, resonating with audiences through their sincerity and clarity. His artistry bridges South African musical heritage with a modern global sensibility, creating songs that are both deeply personal and universally relatable.
In March 2023, he released his debut EP Seasons, produced by Earwulf, Mr Hudson and Stargate. The record received widespread acclaim and worn Best Pop Album at the 2023 South African Music Awards. Critics praised his ability to balance emotional honesty with polished production.
In 2024, Lloyiso announced his Elephant in the Room tour, which included European performances and signalled his growing global reach.
