TAPIWA
Bio
TAPIWA is an Afro-electronic music producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Harare, Zimbabwe. Fusing nostalgic 90s rave energy with vibrant, contemporary African electronic rhythms, TAPIWA delivers a genre-defying sound that's bold, euphoric, and made for the dancefloor.
Blending elements of Afro-pop, AEDM, house music, and amapiano, his sonic identity is deeply rooted in cultural expression and global experimentation. With his music capturing the attention of industry titans such as Martin Garrix, Nitefreak, Bob Sinclar, and Kygo, TAPIWA is quickly becoming a key figure in the new wave of Afro-electronic fusion.
Beyond his solo work, TAPIWA is also 1/2 of Sebenza Soundsystem, a collaborative project pushing the boundaries of African-inspired club music through high-energy DJ sets and immersive performances. Together, Sebenza Soundsystem celebrates the fusion of traditional African rhythms with modern electronic soundscapes, creating unforgettable experiences for dancefloors worldwide.
Supported on global airwaves like BBC Radio 1Xtra, Triple J, 5FM, KISS FM, and NTS Radio, TAPIWA’s infectious beats are resonating far beyond the borders of Zimbabwe.
The release of his latest single, HANA, also heralds the launch of MUSHA, TAPIWA’s new label imprint, meaning "home" in Shona. More than just a label, MUSHA is a community-driven platform built by artists, for artists, with a mission to amplify emerging talent and champion African electronic music. Rooted in authenticity and cultural pride, MUSHA aims to be a launching pad for the next generation of creators to start, grow, and thrive.
