Vikki Montana
Bio
Vikki Montana, formerly known as Zimkhitha Sibongile Mdzanga, is a
dynamic Hip Hop and R&B artist, songwriter, and sound engineer from the
South of Johannesburg. With a background in Audio Technology and a sharp
understanding of music production, Vikki Montana brings a unique blend of
technical mastery and raw creative energy to every stage and studio she
steps into.
Her journey in music began in 2017 as a student at the Academy of Sound
Engineering, where she immersed herself in the craft of sound design,
mixing, and production. This formal training laid the groundwork for her
distinctive sound—a genre-bending mix of introspective R&B melodies and
bold Hip Hop lyricism.
In 2020, Vikki graduated with a 3-year diploma in Audio Technology,
completing her studies in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Her
perseverance during this time speaks volumes about her discipline and
commitment to the art form.
Since then, Vikki has steadily built momentum across South Africa’s
independent music scene. In 2025, she delivered standout performances
at major events and platforms, including:
-The Baddies Chamber
-Kid Fest's Listening Session
- Elkatrez's Album Listening Session
- The HideOut
- Vibez on Main
- HipHop Kraal
She also co-hosted her first event, BrickCity TakeOver, alongside The Ten
Brothers, and continues to support the culture through community-focused
platforms like 1AfricaRadioTV, where she volunteers as a pro bono radio
host.
Vikki’s radio journey started on YFM, during Khutso Theledi’s Lady On Drive
slot, where she first appeared as a freestyle guest. That led to her first
radio interview, co-hosted by comedy heavyweight Goliath. As the first
female artist to pioneer the High Fashion Trvp sound—alongside former
producer Billie Ricch—Vikki has continued to evolve, carving out her own
lane in the alternative R&B and Hip Hop space.
Her debut EPs, Former Self Tape Pt.1 and Former Self Pt.2, introduced
audiences to her reflective, genre-blending sound and lyrical depth. Both
projects marked the beginning of a bold new chapter for the artist—one
rooted in vulnerability, innovation, and fearless self-expression.
With a growing catalog, a strong creative vision, and undeniable stage
presence, Vikki Montana is poised to make a lasting mark on the African
music landscape—and beyond.
