Timothy Ehrenreich

Bio

Timothy Ehrenreich's musical journey began at age 11 at The Ubuntu Music Academy. There he studied under guitarist Rodney Adonis, an excellent teacher, mentor and role model. Under Rodney Adonis' tutelage, Timothy developed a passion for jazz and in particular, the guitar, as the instrument for interpreting this unique form of music.

Though very young, Timothy quickly gained skill and proficiency in playing the guitar. He immersed himself in his studies while exploring the wide spectrum of jazz styles and techniques employed by iconic guitarists such as George Benson, Jonathan Butler, Earl Klugh, Peter White and others.

Timothy quickly gained increased confidence and greatly expanded his musical skill and technique on guitar.
Soon thereafter, Timothy emerged as a well-qualified and sought-after jazz guitarist, becoming Cape Town's youngest full-time performing musician at age 16. He began working with well-known local and international artists in Cape Town and on tour to other cities.
In 2016, Timothy joined the popular Glenn Robertson Jazz Band as lead guitarist, performing regularly with the band at the Kaleidoscope Café and at other venues.
Timothy formed his own band in 2017 - ‘TIMOTHY EHRENREICH COLLECTIVE’. The Timothy Ehrenreich Collective, comprising some of Cape Town's most promising young jazz musicians, has become very popular and very much in demand.

Despite his young age, Timothy has achieved a large measure of success and earned many accolades for his musicianship, professionalism and dedication to his craft.

In 2018, Timothy studied towards a Diploma in Music Performance at The Cape Music Institute, accredited by the London College of Music.
Further to this Timothy won a scholarship to attend a week-long jazz workshop at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, followed by a performance at The Newport Jazz Festival. As a reward for his stellar performance and his demonstrated capabilities and potential, he received an invitation from Berklee College of Music to enroll there in 2020.

In 2021, Timothy’s journey continues at the University of Cape Town’s South African College of Music, where he is currently enrolled for Jazz Studies as a Final-Year student.]

Timothy’s DEBUT ALBUM “For Such A Time As This” was released on 28th May 2021.
