Nigeria: Listen to Paulino YQ’s Unforeseen Circumstances album

The 18-track album is available for streaming and download on various music platforms. It features such songs as ‘My Love Story’, ‘Oh My baby’, ‘Don’t Walk Away’, ‘Here I am (Mama)’ and ‘Zozo’.

Unforeseen Circumstances was produced by South Africa’s Eugene Mpulo and Zimbabwe's Polite Tichivangana, with additional contributions from South African artist DJ Flex.

“The album has a message of love, motherhood, the rich and poor, the future of youths and marriage,” Paulino YQ told Music In Africa.

Asked what inspired the album title, he said: “A time came in my life when I was unable to predict my tomorrow. Life became too difficult for me to continue planning ahead the way I wanted. Coupled with the coronavirus pandemic, people thought I have lost it and denied me my potential.”

He added: “One thing that kept me going, was believing in myself. I knew deep down in my heart that my life would get back to normal again, but I did not know when. This is what inspired the title Unforeseen Circumstances.”

Commenting on his experiences with the coronavirus pandemic, he said: “COVID-19 was a big setback and still continues to arrest my progress as an artist. The advantage is that it gave me enough time to be in the studio to complete my album. The disadvantage was the limitation to our day-to-day movement and locking down our source of income. Anyway, we hope to come out stronger.”
