Fu da Siderurgia is a Mozambican performative
beatmaker, sound artist, Bitwig Certified Trainer,
founder of the Beatzone production company,
motion designer, video artist and activist of Hip-Hop
culture. He is also the co-founder of the cultural
association Siderurgia – Núcleo de HipHop.
Aka Fu Mondlane, Fu Beatmaker & Mtafutaji Maarifa.
His passion for music production began in 1996 when
he first stepped into a studio to record rap verses and
witnessed the setup of a home studio. In 1998, he had
his first contact with an arranger keyboard,
programming beats by playing melodies over pre-set
rhythms. In 2004, he debuted in computer-based
music production and has since been deeply
researching beatmaking and sound design.
Acted as a member of the bands The Mute Band
(psychedelic hip-hop) and 2/4+1 (experimental jazz
hip-hop).
Fu has performed on several stages in Maputo,
including the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center
(Festa da Música, Orquestra Electrónica, Punhos no
Ar Hip-Hop Festival), the Mozambican-German
Cultural Center, Café-Bar Gil Vicente, 16Neto with
analoguELEKTRONICA and the band 2/4+1), and the
Brazil-Mozambique Cultural Center, among others.
He participated in an artistic residency at the
Fernando Leite Couto Foundation (Tv Craveirinha)
and the Mafalala Museum (Nas Gavetas do Tempo),
collaborating with South African artist Lerato Lishaba
from the band Urban Village. In 2023, he performed
as analoguELEKTRONICA at Therapy Fest. In 2024, he
presented analoguELEKTRONICA at the Hackathon
event.
