Call for submissions: Events for streaming platform
Egypt’s Agora Arts and Culture programme is inviting creators from across the continent to submit events for its recently launched virtual income-generating platform, Basita.Live.
The platform seeks to assist artists to build large audiences and earn a steady income until the end of the COVID-19 crisis.
"We envision the platform to allow all kinds of artists, performers and theatres to reach beyond their physical attendance and still sell tickets for their audiences worldwide, which complements our idea of creating a global cultural sector," Agora Arts and Culture founder Reem Kassem told Music In Africa.
The platform allows performing and visual artists, filmmakers, animators and institutions to livestream, share content and conduct live or pre-recorded sessions.
After payments are made via the ticketing system, each viewer receives a token and a calendar invite in their mailbox that can be used with one IP address. Artists can also keep their content online for viewers to view at a later date upon purchasing a token.
The audience can also communicate with artists through an interactive panel, which allows the platform to generate an audience report.
How it works
- Create an account on Basita.live.
- Submit your account for approval.
- It takes at least 24 hours to approve and authenticate and account on Basita.live.
- Log in to your account and create an event.
- Submit your event for review.
- If your event involves pre-recorded content, you can immediately upload it before submitting the event for review.
Creatives should note:
- It takes up to 20 days to transfer the income to an artist.
- The platform receives the tickets' revenue only after 14 days from the event, due to payment gateway rules.
- The artist receives 75% of the revenue collected and the remaining 25% goes to cover all necessary banking charges, currency transfer, payment gateway, cardholder fees, and site expenses.
