Bio

Born in Accra, Ghana, AJ Nelson (real name Adjei Yaw Nelson Otumfour) is a hip-hop artist who grew up in Dormaa Ahenkro. His music is inspired by the environment in which he lives.

He joined the music scene when U.S'. president Barack Obama visited Ghana in 2009. His music is a fusion of bono dialect, the Asante Twi, Pidgin and English languages. He has featured in a historic collaboration that was used to welcome Barack Obama. He proceeded to release a debut single called 'Same Girl' (September 2010) which featured Quabena Maphia. Shortly afterwards, he released his second single titled 'Faith' featuring Jay Ghartey.

On 10 October 2015, he released a 16-track debut album titled 'Soul Food'. The album was released on online stores such as iTunes, YouTube, Music Key, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, Deezer, Spinlet and Tidal.

In 2015, her teamed up with VGMA Best Song Writer of the Year and Best Female Vocalist award winner Wiyaala on a hip-hop song titled 'Power To The People', a song that seeks to empower the youth. Shortly after its release, the song was on iTunes' Top Selling artistes charts. UK’s popular entertainment website called We Plug Good Music rated the song as the Best New Music of the Week alongside songs such as Coldplay’s 'Adventure Of A Lifetime', Mr. Drastick’s 'They Wanna Know', Emma McGrath’s 'Sit With Me', Chris Brown’s 'Fine By Me', Illmaculate + OnlyOne’s 'Only & Ill', Booda French’s 'The Feeling', and Weltuntergäng + Arm & Hässlich’s 'Untitled'.

He has shared the stage with world top stars such as Sarkodie, Samini, Manifest, Ofie Kodjoe, E.L, Okyeame Kwame, Wiyaala, Dark Suburb and multiple U.S'. award-winning singer Lauryn Hill.
