
YouTube unveils new features, partnerships for premium users
YouTube has announced a range of new experiments and features designed to enhance the viewing experience for its Premium users. The updates include new experimental features, a partnership with Google One, and expanded feature availability.

One of the key new features allows Premium users to opt into multiple experimental features at once on youtube.com/new. This includes the introduction of high-quality audio, which will provide Premium members with enhanced audio experiences on music videos, boasting clearer and deeper sound at 256kbps.
Other new experimental features include Picture-in-Picture for YouTube Shorts on iOS, enabling users to watch their favourite Shorts while browsing other apps or checking messages. Additionally, Smart Downloads for YouTube Shorts on iOS will automatically download recommended Shorts for offline viewing.
YouTube has also expanded its “Jump ahead” feature to web browsers, allowing users to seamlessly skip ahead to the best parts of a video. Furthermore, users will soon be able to fine-tune their viewing experience with expanded playback speed options up to 4x on mobile devices.
In another significant development, YouTube has partnered with Google One to offer a new deal in the US. As from 22 January, users were able to save on YouTube Premium when purchased with a Google One Premium plan or higher. This bundle includes ad-free YouTube, 2 TB cloud storage with Google One, and other Google One member benefits.
These updates, the online media sharing platform said, were part of YouTube’s ongoing efforts to provide users with more options and features to enhance their viewing experience.
