Open call: DSAC Mzansi Golden Economy grant funding
The National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) has opened applications for grant funding under the Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE) programme, inviting submissions from organisations operating in the arts, culture and heritage sectors.
The application deadline is 30 January.
Funding will support projects scheduled for implementation between May 2026 and February 2027.
The Mzansi Golden Economy is a government strategy aimed at stimulating economic growth and job creation by strengthening the cultural and creative industries. The programme positions arts, culture and heritage as a key contributor to national development, with a focus on increasing productivity and enhancing international competitiveness.
Applications are open under two funding streams: Cultural and Creative Industries Projects (CCIPs) and Touring Ventures. According to DSAC, the funding process is competitive, and applications will be assessed based on sector needs, the merits of each proposal, and compliance with eligibility and submission requirements. The department has emphasised that no applicant is guaranteed funding.
Eligible arts, culture and heritage organisations, including non-profit organisations and private companies, are required to submit applications through the government’s e-services portal. DSAC has indicated that applications submitted by hand or via email will not be accepted.
The call for applications opened on 5 December 2025 at and closes on 30 January 2026. Interested creatives should click here to apply. Click here to view the application guidelines.
